Name: Mrs. Karen Ammerman

Educational Background:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Alverno College

How long have you been at St. Joseph School: I have worked at St. Joseph School since August of 1989.  The first      6 years I was school secretary.  While attending Alverno College, I worked in various classrooms as a paraprofessional until 1999 when I earned my teaching degree.  I currently teach 6th & 7th grade English, 6th-8th grade Social Studies, and I work with the middle school art program.

Family Life:  My husband Todd is a Product Manager/Electrical Engineer.  I have two children, John (wife, Lori) and Jamie (husband, Brian) and three grandchildren, Brady, Allie, and Hailey.

Hobbies: Theater, reading, golf, and watching my grandchildren.

I really enjoy working at St. Joseph School and believe it provides great spiritual and educational background for all the students.  I believe that students learn in different ways and try to include a variety of teaching strategies in my classes.  As the director of our middle school play, I thoroughly enjoy watching the students grow in their theatrical abilities and look forward to our productions each year.

I received the Herb Kohl Fellowship Award for Excellence in Education. I was very excited and honored to be a recipient of this award.
