Name: Mrs. Karen Ammerman

How long have you been at St. Joseph School: I have been at St. Joe's for 17 years: 6 years as school secretary, 4 years as a paraprofessional, and 7 years as a teacher.

Family Life: Husband -Todd who is an Electrical Engineer, 2 children: son John-27 wife Lori; Daughter Jamie- 26 husband Brian

Hobbies: Theater (performing with a community theater group), Golfing, Bowling and Volleyball

I went back to college (Alverno) at age 40 to obtain my teaching degree. I worked at St. Joseph School during my college years. I began teaching middle school after graduation in 1999. I teach 6&7 grade English, 6,7,& 8 grade Social Studies, and I work with Mary Tooley on the Middle School Art Program.

For the past 14 years I have directed our School Musical.  The 6-8 grades have performed Broadway musicals as well as other musical comedy plays. I thoroughly enjoy watching the students grow in their theatrical abilities and look forward to our productions each year.

This year I received the Herb Kohl Fellowship Award for Excellence in Education. I was very excited and honored to be a recipient of this award.
